Musculoskeletal Disorder(s) Prevention

Musculoskeletal Disorder(s) Prevention

Musculoskeletal disorders (MSDs) represent more than 40% of all lost time injuries across the province of Ontario and are the single most expensive group of claims. Preventing MSDs can help protect employees, reduce costs, boost productivity and improve product quality. This course provides a practical approach to assessing risk factors for musculoskeletal disorders in the workplace. This module provides a thorough understanding of what MSDs are and what MSD hazards look like. The module will review primary hazards of force, posture and repetition as well as secondary hazards such as vibration, contact stress and work methods. Participants will review the province's MSD Prevention Framework and apply identification, assessment and control methods and tools in hands-on exercises. At the end of this session, participants will understand and be familiar with:

º Common MSD hazards and examples from industry.
º Practical ways of recognizing, assessing and reducing or eliminating these risk factors in the    workplace.
º Prevention activities and opportunities for improvement.
º How to use the various tools and resources from the province's MSD prevention series.
