Road to Zero
Based on declining injury and fatality trends in our industry, PPHSA projects the year 2020 as the target for the complete elimination of illnesses and injuries in our sector.
PPHSA's five-year plan sets goals and strategies to build on our base of success and enhance our work for the future. The association's vision is “The elimination of illnesses and injuries through the pursuit of excellence.” Our long range goal of eliminating injuries and illness by the year 2020, our “2020 Vision”, aligns PPHSA with our system partners, targeting a yearly 7% reduction in LTI rates. By seeing this vision through, PPHSA will save lives, enhance the quality of life of working men and women and contribute to the economic vitality of industry.
Realignment
The Workplace Safety and Insurance Board (WSIB) is planning changes to Ontario's health and safety system as part of the Road to Zero. Changes are in motion to redesign the prevention system structure to achieve a more aligned, collaborative and coordinated system.
A new integrated service delivery model is being explored to optimize system outreach, resources, and efficiencies to enhance front line support. PPHSA is at the discussion table and will continue to provide progress reports on the evolution of Ontario's prevention system.
The biggest change that you will notice is the merging of health and safety associations and shifting/splitting of others. Later in 2009 PPHSA will look different as the province's 12 health and safety associations are consolidated to four, pushing resources to the front line and streamlining support services.
PPHSA will be part of a multi-sector prevention services branch located in North Bay.
PPHSA will continue to share updates with you on this new model, as more information becomes available.
